Answers to the most common questions about using Sane.

Getting started

What is Sane?

Sane is a mental wellness companion that helps you reflect on your day, notice emotional patterns, and build steadier routines through voice journaling and mood tracking.

How do I create an account?

Download Sane from the App Store or Google Play, open the app, and follow the sign-up flow. You can use your email address or sign in with Apple or Google.

Is Sane free?

Sane offers a free tier with core features. Details on any future paid plans will be shared transparently on the app and website.

Voice journaling

How does voice journaling work?

Tap the microphone button and speak freely. Sane transcribes your entry and uses it to help surface emotional patterns over time. You can review, edit, or delete any entry.

Is my voice data stored?

Audio is processed to create a text transcript and is not stored permanently. Your transcript is saved securely to your account. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Mood tracking

How do I log my mood?

After a journal entry or at any time during the day, you can select a mood from a simple scale. Sane tracks these over time so you can see patterns.

Can I see trends?

Yes. The insights screen shows your mood patterns across days and weeks, helping you notice what affects how you feel.

Account and data

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings in the app and select Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data. This action cannot be undone.

Can I export my data?

Data export is on the roadmap. When available, you will be able to download your journal entries and mood history.

Troubleshooting

The app is not recording my voice

Make sure you have granted microphone permissions in your device settings. Restart the app if the issue persists.

I am not receiving notifications

Check that notifications are enabled for Sane in your device settings. You can also adjust reminder times inside the app under Settings.
